The Pastel de Belém and the traditional Pastel de Nata were considered the best cakes in the whole world, ranked first and second, respectively, by the Taste Atlas guide!
That’s why we decided to show you our favorite Pastry Shops for you to try this little great worldwide delight!
Manteigaria
When the bell rings at Manteigaria, you can see locals and tourists looking around and a queue forming as it is a sign that a new batch of custard tarts has just come out! It doesn’t really matter if you’ve just eaten a full meal: there’s always room for (more) a freshly made pastry!
Pastéis de Belém
It is that kind of place referred to by almost all travel guides as a “must visit” so it is very likely that you will find one of those queues at the door, but believe me, it will be worth it in the end! The custard tarts have been made here since 1837 and the owners guarantee that the same recipe is still used today — a closely guarded secret!
Confeitaria Nacional
Even if it is just to get to know the space, at Confeitaria Nacional it is also possible to enjoy one of the creamiest custard tarts in the city. Inaugurated in 1829, it is one of the oldest and most famous pastry shops in Lisbon. It serves more than 70 types of cakes and sweets made by hand. You can’t leave Lisbon without trying it!
Fábrica da Nata
And finally, Fábrica da Nata is one of the newest shops in the city dedicated to the hero of Portuguese sweets. Modern but with all the tradicional flavor, you’ll melt when you try one of their Pasteis de Nata!
We hope you enjoy our favorite spots! And of course if you want to stay in your room to rest, we have this delight in our Hotel Breakfast Buffet served from 07h30 to 11h30 everyday. So don’t worry, you will be able to taste this delight before leaving Lisbon. Enjoy!
